Former unified world lightweight champion Juan Diaz (36-4, 18 KO’s) returned to the ring for the first time since 2010 with a sixth round TKO over Pipino Cuevas Jr. (16-10, 14 KO’s) on Saturday night at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. The 29-year-old “Baby Bull†battered the son of the longtime WBA welterweight champion until the bout was waved off in round six. Time was :55.

“The Corpus Christi Kid†Jerry Belmontes (18-1, 5 KOs) bounced back from the first loss of his career with an eight round majority decision over former bantamweight title challenger Daniel Diaz (19-5-1, 14 KO’s) in a jr lightweight clash. Scores were 76-76, 78-74, 79-73.

Welterweight Justin DeLoach (2-0, 0 KOs) won a four round unanimous decision over Martin Gonzalez (1-2)
