In a result that flew under the radar, former welterweight contender Luis Carlos "El Potro" Abregu (36-3 29 KOs) was knocked out in three rounds on Friday night.

The Argentine slugger has been inactive since being stopped, in what was considered an upset at the time, by Sadam Ali as part of the Sergey Kovalev-Bernard Hopkins undercard in November, 2014.

At the time, Abregu said his performance was affected by personal issues and he need to take a long time away from the ring.

He returned back home at the Complejo Deportivo Nicolás Vitale in Salta, Argentina.

The opponent appeared to be an easy one, a local junior middleweight Juan Carlos Pedrozo (11-8, 9KOs) - who had lost five of his last six and three of those defeats came by knockout.

That wasn't the case, as Pedrozo pinned him against the ropes in the third and unloaded with several hard combinations that had a defenseless Abregu out on his feet and the referee was forced to jump in and wave off the contest.

After the contest was over, some of Abregu's family members hit the ring and Pedrozo was attacked in the aftermath of the fight. He was punched a few times by an angry family member before order was restored.
