After the fight there was talk of Bellew having a fight for a world title, with the New Zealand fighter, Joseph Parker. Parker seemed to be the more attractive opposition with Bellew admitting he was somewhat fazed by the size of the other title holders, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. However, whilst accepting a world heavyweight title fight would be financially lucrative for the man from Merseyside, another possible attractive fight could be in the pipeline. Just recently, across the pond, Andre Ward took on Sergey Kovalev in a re-match for the light-heavyweight titles Ward holds. Ward won the belt with an eighth round stoppage, although some might say one of the defining punches was on the low side. Following the successful defence of his belts, Ward has spoken about moving up in weight, to either cruiserweight to heavyweight. The latter of the two weights might just be too steep for the classy American fighter, however, a move from light-heavyweight to cruiserweight might be a more comfortable step. Therefore, a natural fight just waiting to be made would see Andre Ward go head-to-head with Tony Bellew, it’s a fight that would be intriguing whilst also generating a huge cash-pot for both fighters. It’s also a fight that Ward seemingly wants, with the American quoted by the media as having remarked, “We’re businessmen, let’s do it.” Let’s hope the contract can be drawn up and signed.
