It is rumored that the fight for the vacant WBC world supermiddleweight championship between Callum Smith (22-0, 17 kos) and Anthony Dirrell (30-1-1, 24 kos) could be moved to a date in late October and take place in Flint, Michigan. Originally, the fight was scheduled to take place on September 9th in Los Angeles. However, no venue or undercard has been announced.

The WBC supermiddleweight title was declared vacant when former champion Badou Jack announced that he is moving up to light heavyweight. In March, TGB Promotions which is closely linked to Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Chamionships had won the purse bid with a bid of 1.6 Million US-Dollars. Smith’s last fight was a TKO win over Luke Blackledge for the BBBoC championship in December 2016. Dirrell stopped Hungary’s Norbert Nemesapati in January.
