Pacquiao announces January fight with Broner

Manny Pacquiao’s recent signing with Al Haymon has indeed paved the way for “Pac-Man” to face Adrien Broner, whom Pacquiao claims he’ll fight on either January 12th or 19th. The fight will “likely” take place in Las Vegas, and could pave the way for the rematch nobody has been waiting for against Floyd Mayweather.

Assuming, of course, that Floyd isn’t busy with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Pacquiao (60-7-2, 39 KO) scored his first finish in nearly nine years this past July with a one-sided beating of Lucas Matthysse. The fight was his first appearance since a controversial decision loss to Jeff Horn the prior July and his fourth overall since his 2015 loss to Mayweather.

Broner (33-3-1, 24 KO) is winless in his last two, dropping a decision to Mikey Garcia and drawing with Jessie Vargas. The WBC had ordered him to face Jorge Linares in a final eliminator for Garcia’s title, but this seems like an extraordinarily more lucrative opportunity.

Early picks? Provided Broner doesn’t wind up getting arrested yet again between now and fight night?
