Pacquiao-Bradley controversy not a criminal matter: Nevada officials
Nevada's state attorney general found nothing illegal or criminal in Manny Pacquiao's controversial split-decision loss to Timothy Bradley in a welterweight title fight last month in Las Vegas, according to a letter made public Tuesday.
Interviews with the referee of the June 9 fight, two Nevada Gaming Control Board officials and state Athletic Commission Director Keith Kizer turned up no evidence of wrongdoing, state Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto said in the letter to Top Rank chief executive Bob Arum.
Top Rank chief executive Bob Arum, who promoted the fight, sought an inquiry June 11, telling Masto that he hoped it would "show the world that there were no improprieties."
Arum didn't immediately respond Tuesday to requests for comment.
"Displeasure with the subjective decisions of sporting officials is not a sufficient basis for this office to initiate a criminal investigation," Masto's letter said. "There do not appear to be any facts or evidence to indicate that a criminal violation occurred."
Masto aide Jennifer Lopez issued a statement calling the matter closed.
Bradley won 115-113 on two scorecards, while losing by the same margin on the third.
The decision was booed by the ringside crowd June 9 at the MGM Grand arena, drew a video review by the World Boxing Organization, and resulted in a call by Pacquiao for a rematch.
A five-judge panel assembled by the WBO championship committee unanimously favored the Filipino fighter in a review.
The WBO can't overturn the result of the fight.
I think that a criminal investigation is waaaaaayyyyy overboard. I don't agree... I just don't see the way to give Bradley the fight - but that doesn't mean that everyone sees fights the same way that I do.
I do think that Manny was robbed - I have said that - but I don't think that means that there was anything crooked going on. In fact, I would be more inclined to think that there was something crooked about Manny beating JMM than I would that he lost... there's too much money in Manny to have him lose. I could absolutely build a conspiracy theory, but it's not there.
I do believe that the rounds were close, but I didn't think that the fight was. I didn't think that Bradley got dominated, but I did think that he got handled fairly easily by Manny - when Manny wanted to fight. Neither guy really did a lot in a lot of the rounds... the action packed rounds seemed to favor Pac with better, stronger punches, but it was nothing that overwhelmed Bradley. My take on it was that Bradley was frustrated with his inability to really get off without getting stung in return - but people can see that differently and some even on here did.
All good. I see the book on this as closed. If Pac feels that he was robbed, KO his @ss in the rematch and the talk is all over.
Yeah man a criminal investigation is a bit over board.

very much overboard
I mean I am Bradley how do I view my promoter , who's suppose to have my BEST interests in his mind, basically demanding something fishy had happened
basically saying I WASNT capable of winning
ESPN showed an interesting point on FNF with the judges sitting at different angles getting different views , by using the camera's to make the point
different angles you see or dont see different things
It's incredible that it came to this, everyone could see it was a fucked up decision but never criminal or corrupt for me!

especially considering the way he was moving around and moving his head. also the fact that manny made the judges wait so he could finish watching the nba finals could have had something to do with the close rounds going on way or the other....
Yeah right they were pissed off so screwed him

it couldnt have helped him
