Canelo-Cotto Still A Huge Fight ?

Saul “Canelo†Alvarez is currently enjoying the greatest victory of his career against Austin “No Doubt†Trout but already has the date in mind for his next fight. Alvarez has September 14th in mind for his next fight, and there are two opponents that seem the most realistic for him to face.

Of course Floyd “Money†Mayweather is at the top of his list. Canelo has been chasing him for quite some time, but no one knows for sure if the fight will materialize.

But if the Mayweather fight does not happen, Miguel Cotto would be a huge fight for Canelo and for boxing fans. Many times Cotto has been called washed up but ends up proving that he is not finished whether he wins or loses a fight. Does Cotto deserve the shot at Alvarez? Yes. He has failed to show that he cannot put up a fight against top competition. There was talk last year about Alvarez facing Cotto should Cotto have won against Austin Trout. When Trout upset Cotto, fans wanted to see Alvarez face Trout but doubted that it would ever happen, and we saw what happened.

If Alvarez decides to face Cotto in September, he should not be knocked for taking the fight. The fight would do huge numbers and no matter where it is staged, would more than likely sell out the arena. It is guaranteed to be all action and a beautiful technical fight not to mention adding another chapter to the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry and should Cotto win the match, it could set up a huge rematch or a trilogy.

Miguel is washed up, Canelo should concentrate on guys who are not. If the Money fight doesn't happen, I'd like to see him fight Angulo, Vanes or Kirkland...or Lara, if he beats Angulo. Thats what the fans would like to see.

Josh hated every Cotto fight for last 6 -7 years , he's been wrong every time except maybe once.

Cotto will still be one of the best opponents Canelo ever faced , that being said its a tough physical fight for Miguel , one that could be the last of his career

Yeah right :D

?? You doubt that? I meant a PRIME Daniel Santos. The guy who beat up Margarito and Campas. He'd have a good chance against both at least.

why would it sting? Cotto lost , and? He had lost before. he didn't lose every round that's a FACT

you have stated OVER and OVER you cant score a fight for shit , which is true. Cotto will go into the HOF no matter how much you hate him , go watch the men spoon each other which gets you off :tup

leave the boxing to the men on the forum :rofl

All Jokes aside, we know Cotto is still a very relevant fighter dont we??

Relevant how? As a name? Sure, but there isn't much power left behind that name. Not much real power.
