blackrican23
Professional boxers can compete at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, if they qualify. An overwhelming vote by the sport's amateur governing body, known as AIBA, on Wednesday allows any boxer to try to qualify next month and earn selection for their national team. But AIBA's plan has been criticized across the professional ranks as a move toward dangerous mismatches between established boxers and inexperienced amateurs. - See more at: http://www.boxingscene.com/pro-boxers-compete-olympics-rule-change-approved--105221#sthash.InxbEyzB.dpuf
GRIM
Add me to that list also, this is a bad recipe for gross miss matches at the minimum.
blackrican23
vote was in favor 84-0 ! Wtf is the thinking behind it
GRIM
84-0? I find that hard to believe that not one would be against this.
blackrican23
As President of the Association of Boxing Commissions, the Board of Directors and I are disappointed in AIBA’s decision to allow amateur boxers to compete with professionals in the Olympics. Even worse than just a majority vote, the vote of 84 to 0 in favor, is a statement in and of itself.

Members CruiserWeight
So, we shouldn't allow the best that we have to offer represent our nations? I guess we should make it so there can never be a dream team again...
Members CruiserWeight
Great! That is how it should be if other countries cant keep up. We should not throw our handicapped at them. We should throw our best at them...

The day they allowed Pro sports into the Olympics was the day commercialism took over; two different types of boxing governed by different scoring methods but ultimately it is about the best Amateurs coming through, not Pro fighters that have already made it - fucking crazy shit going on here! Mofo2
I hope they follow this through; Pro fighters have no place glory seeking in ten Olympic games!!
