The World Boxing Organization, headed by President Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel, held the purse bid on Friday at the Hotel Verdanza Isla Verde, Carolina, Puerto Rico, to present the fight for the World Heavyweight Championship between the champion Joseph Parker (22-0, 18KO's) and the first seed (mandatory) Hughie Fury (20-0, 10KO's).

Duco Events, represented by Dom Jennings, managed to win the auction with a guaranteed purse of $ 3,011,000.00. Parker will receive $ 1,806,600.00 (60%) and Fury will take home the amount of $ 1,204,400.00 (40%). The offer minimum bid was $ 1,000,000.00 (one million dollars).

"This auction is carried out because the parties could not agree," said Valcárcel. "A representative of New Zealand and one from London were present. The people of Duco offered $3,011,000.00 and Frank Warren offered $2,800,00.00, so it was awarded to Duco. Now the battle will be presented on April 1 in Auckland, New Zealand."

Joseph Parker, who is a native of Auckland, will have the opportunity to make his first title defense at home. Last December, the 25 year-old boxer was crowned with a majority decision by beating Andy Ruiz.

For Fury, 22 years old and a native of England, this will be his first fight outside the UK since February 2015, when he won a unanimous decision over Andriy Rudenko in a Monaco meeting.

Additional to Valcárcel and Jennings at the bid were Ben Murphy (Queensberry Promotions), Carl Moretti (Top Rank) and the handler, Sean Gibbons.
