Mofo2
Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer has vehemently stipulated that the recently announced heavyweight clash between GBP's Deontay Wilder and Frank Warren promoted Dereck Chisora was never agreed.Speaking to WBN today on the back of Dean Powell's recent comments to us, Schaefer denied that Golden Boy gave the go ahead to the Frank Warren matchmaker for the fight to be unveiled at yesterday's press conference."I was not involved in the negotiations but I know that the fight was not agreed," Schaefer told World Boxing News."We have in-fact got emails where we asked Dean not to do a press conference and that we cannot provide any quotes for a press release since the fight was not done."The fight, which Powell had hopes to schedule for June 15 now looks in serious doubt, not only because of the recent arrest of Wilder, but for the confusion since as both sides continually disagree over the manner of the notification.Wilder, who holds an impressive 28-0 record all by knockout, has only been released on bail to reappear over the domestic assault matter hanging over him and may face considerable problems in both leaving the US and gaining access to the UK.Former world title challenger Chisora could now be facing up to the fact that a replacement may have to be drafted in for his headlining show, which is only five weeks away at Wembley Arena.Source: WBN
