In the second lap of the 2011 Baku world amateur championship Ukrianian superstar Vasyl Lomachenko scored one of his toughest wins at unpaid ranks, winning a relatively close affair against future US Olympian Jose Ramirez.

Meanwhile, sources in Philippines indicate that Jose Ramirez can become the first pro opponent for a two-time world and Olympic gold medalist. However, that's not the same Jose Carlos Ramirez that Lomachenko previously met - but Mexican featherweight Jose Luis Ramirez Garcia (25-3, 15 KOs), a 25-year old WBO #7 rated contender, who is coming off a road split decision over 34-2 Filipino Ray Bautista.

The bout is rumored for the ten-round distance. No confirmation for this information has been given by either Vasily or his representatives. BoxingScene.com reported a few days ago that Lomachenko is expected to sign a promotional agreement with Top Rank.

It's worth noting that if true, the bout could land in the undercard of the Timothy Bradley vs. Juan Manuel Marquez WBO welterweight showdown, which also features a fight for a recently vacated WBO 126lb title between Mexican veteran Orlando Salido and Puerto-Rican contender Orlando Cruz. Team Lomachenko had expressed a vital interest in making a record-breaking jump to a world title, and the fight with high-rated Ramirez can be the key.
