blackrican23
In 1975, Saensak Muangsurin won the WBC light welterweight world title in only his third professional fight. Two-time Ukrainian Olympic gold medalist Vasyl “The Great†Lomachenko is aiming to become a world champion in just two fights after signing a professional contract with Top Rank. However, if Lomachenko is successful, he will not be officially recognized as breaking Muangsurin’s record.Fight Fax, Inc., boxing’s official recordkeeper, lists Lomachenko as already having six pro fights. This problem was created by the AIBA, which allows boxers to compete in paid WSB pro bouts, while retaining their amateur status. According to Fight Fax, Lomachenko’s WSB bouts are included in his pro record since he used 8 oz gloves, the fights had three judges, one referee, no head gear and most importantly, he got paid. Other fighters haunted by their paid “amateur†fights include U.S. Olympians JoJo Diaz and Terrell Gausha who both have WSB losses included on their official pro records. http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/if-lomachenko-wins-a-world-title-in-second-pro-fight-it-wont-be-an-official-record-222071

GRIM
Yeah it's been going on for a lil while now, I think the AIBA is the master mind behind it. Pro rules, no head gears, gym Velcro wraps, and gets paid

GRIM
If you recall there was a show on a sports channel called World Series of Boxing? From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia World Series Boxing - Los Angeles Matadors vs. Moscow Dynamo, Hollywood, CA on December 4, 2011. Both amateur boxers compete without vests or head guards. The World Series of Boxing or WSB is a professional international boxing competition that allows the professional boxers to maintainOlympic eligibility, organised by AIBA. Unlike amateur boxing, competitors taking part in sanctioned World Series of Boxing bouts must be bare-chested and are not permitted to wear protective headgear. Each participating boxer is drafted by one of a number of international franchises and can earn money by taking part in professional-style bouts. However, they maintain amateur status and remain eligible to compete at the Olympic Games. Like professional boxing, each bout is decided by the scores of three judges or, in some cases, by a knockout, technical knockout or walk-over. A WSB meet between two international franchises consists of bouts in five weight categories. There are five three-minute rounds in each bout and the team that wins the most number of bouts wins the meet.
