Boxer Tyson Fury’s Morecambe home has been targeted by arsonists while he was away training for a big fight.

Fury was “devastated†after his £12,000 Volkswagen Passat was torched in his driveway.

The culprit also tried to set fire to the fighter’s BMW estate.

Fury’s home was empty at the time as Tyson, his wife Paris and children Venezuela and Prince were away at his training camp in Cannes.

The unbeaten heavyweight, 25, is preparing for a TV fight with American Joey Abell in London this Saturday.

Fire crews and police rushed to the scene after a call at around 8.35pm on Sunday.

A police spokesman said it is believed accelerants were used.

Peter Fury, Tyson’s trainer and uncle, said: “Tyson is devastated"

“It’s absolutely crazy. Somebody could have got hurt.

“We don’t really know the extent of the damage because we’re not there, although Tyson has spoken to the fire brigade.

“It might be up to £20,000 worth of damage.â€

Peter believes it was a targeted attack.

“Tyson has had threatening text messages as well,†he said.

“He’s just a young kid who is earning his money in the right way in the ring. There’s no words for it really.

“But he’s taking it in his stride. You’ve got to get on with things.â€
