THE advisor for world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has said Dereck Chisora is back in the running for a title fight after a string of wins, providing he overcomes Tyson Fury in a bout that could take place in the summer.

Bernd Boente, who was speaking to Boxing News about Vitali Klitschko's incredible acts of bravery on the political landscape for this week's issue, said that providing Wladimir comes through his April clash with Alex Leapai unscathed he could fight twice more in 2014.

When asked whether Wladimir would be fighting the likes of the new breed, Fury and Deontay Wilder, Boente said: "These are definitely interesting names. I don’t know if that will be the case this year but I’m sure they will happen this year or next year.

"The winner of Fury-Chisora could be a very interesting pay-per-view fight."

Chisora riled Wladimir when, before a 2012 fight with Vitali, he spat water into the younger Klitschko's face. Then there was a reported incident between Wlad and Chisora in an Ibiza nightclub and after Chisora lost to David Haye it seemed a championship fight was out of the Finchley man's grasp.

"At that time Chisora had lost a couple of fights in a row," said Boente. "Now he has regrouped and if he wins that fight against Fury it’s a different story. But I doubt he wins that fight."

Boente added that Wladimir's long reign is good for morale for the people of the Ukraine during such tumultuous times.

"It’s also important for his home country, to give them some good news," he said. "The Ukrainian anthem will be playing inside the ring [for Klitschko-Leapai] and it will be covered by 150 countries, 10 million will watch in Germany and millions more in the Ukraine and around the world.

Meanwhile, Vitali is working tirelessly on the front line in his bid to transform Ukraine from dictatorship to democracy. That is his passion now.

"He made enough money in his life," said Boente. "He is not in politics for money. What he wants to gain is freedom and democracy for his home country."
