Mofo2
Last Saturday night, after demolishing his tough opponent in the eleventh round, the consensus of opinion was that James DeGale’s next fight would be a world title challenge against the WBC super-middleweight title holder Sakio Bika. Even more so when you consider that another challenger involved in the route to fight Bika, Badou Jack, had suffered a surprise first round knockout to Derek Edwards. But, as we’re all aware, the wheels don’t often turn smoothly in the fight game and much to our annoyance and disgust the WBC has decreed that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr will be the mandatory challenger to Sakio Bika, thereby ignoring the claims of DeGale. We can only hope that this is a temporary blip for DeGale who might wish he’d made more noise, now, about meeting the winner of Froch v Groves.
