Inoue in History with KO of Hernandez: Yaegashi, Gonzalez Win

20-year-old Naoya Inoue (6-0, 5KOs) made history in Japan, in only his sixth fight, he knocked out two-time world champion, and one of the best in the lower weight divisions, Adrian Hernandez (29-3-1, 18KOs), in six rounds to capture the WBC junior flyweight title. Hernandez had won his last seven after an upset knockout loss (which he later avenged by knockout) to Kompayak Porpramook.

 

WBC flyweight champion Akira Yaegashi (20-3, 10 KOs) retained his belt with a ninth round knockout of durable Odilon Zaleta (15-4, 8 KOs) of Mexico. It was a tough fight with Yaegashi winning a majority decision after eight rounds of action, 77-76, 77-75 and 76-76. Up next is a showdown with Roman Gonzalez.

 

Two-division champion  Roman “El Chocolatito†Gonzalez (39-0, 33 KOs) crushed Juan Purisima (11-3-1, 3 KOs) in three one-sided rounds to set up a fight with WBC flyweight champion Akira Yaegashi.

18 year old Takuma Inoue, the younger brother of Naoya Inoue, outboxed the far more experienced Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr. over eight rounds. Takuma raises his record to 2-0 and Sakkreerin falls to 25-3, 15. The score was 79-73 on all three of the official cards.
