Mofo2
Its hard to see fighters become like this, it looks very likely that his recovery wont get that much beyond where he is now - thats got to be equally as hard for the wife/family/kids etc when this happens to a fighter! GRIM
Brain-damaged former heavyweight Magomed Abdusalamov was released over the weekend from the Helen Hayes Hospital’s rehabilitation facility in West Haverstraw, N.Y., in favor of home care, the fighter’s attorney, Paul Edelstein informed RingTV.com on Monday. Abdusalamov joined his wife, Bakanay and three young daughters “in Connecticut,†said Edelstein.“He will get outpatient home care,†said Edelstein. “Hopefully, he won’t have to receive any inpatient care anymore.â€Edelstein is representing Abdusalamov and his family in a lawsuit filed in March against multiple parties – including New York State Athletic Commission doctors and New York’s Madison Square Garden – alleging recklessness, gross negligence and medical malpractice.Abdusalamov, 33, suffered brain trauma as well as a broken jaw during a brutal beating by Mike Perez over 10 rounds in November at Madison Square Garden. Abdusalamov was placed in a medically-induced coma by doctors at New York’s St. Luke’s Hospital until early December. Abdusalamov had complained to his corner during the bout about feeling pain in his jaw, as well as to commission doctors that he was experiencing pain in his head immediately after the fight.“Ironically, he was taken home in an ambulance from the hospital,†said Edelstein, “but he got taken from the fight to the hospital in a cab. I would say that’s very strange and ironic but that is what happened.†
