He was arrested in Vegas on saturday. The BRONZE Bomber showing signs of direct PBF influence?:stir

Heavyweight prospect Deontay 'The Bronze Bomber' Wilder (28-0) was arrested on Saturday morning in Las Vegas and charged with domestic violence / strangulation.

According to Boxing.com, police were called to a hotel on the Strip at 7:30am, where a 'tall man and a bruised woman' were taken into custody.

Wilder was reportedly in Las Vegas for the Floyd Mayweather fight. According to reports, the woman in question had a cut lip, swelling around the eyes and red marks on her neck suggesting she had been strangled.

Wilder has ended all of his 28 contents within four rounds. A visit to the UK two weeks ago saw former Olympic gold medallist Audley Harrison knocked out in 70 seconds. Harrison subsequently announced his retirement.

Promoter Frank Warren had reportedly made Wilder a 'substantial' offer to face Finchley fighter Dereck Chisora (16-4), who himself was given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for two years and ordered to complete 150 hours community work after being found guilty of assaulting his girlfirend in 2010.

Wilder, 27, was released on Monday after posting a $15,000 bond.

Attorney: Deontay Wilder thought he was being robbed   :palm

Heavyweight boxer Deontay Wilder thought that the person he is accused of assaulting at a Las Vegas hotel was stealing from him, his attorney Paul Patterson said Wednesday.

Wilder, 27, was charged with domestic violence/strangulation at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino early Saturday morning.

"Deontay instinctively acted under the false impression that someone was stealing from him," Patterson said today. "That wasn't the case. He regrets his actions. He is extremely regretful because this is not consistent with his reputation.

"He and the victim have spoken about this and the victim has accepted his apology. We hope this matter will be brought to a resolution soon."

Wilder is best known for winning the bronze medal in the Beijing Olympics in 2008. He subsequently took the nickname "Bronze Bomber."

Wilder attended the Floyd Mayweather vs. Robert Guerrero fight Saturday night in Las Vegas.

He has since returned to Tuscaloosa, Patterson said.

A hearing in the case is scheduled for July 3.

Domestic violence is generally anyone you are living with as far as I'm aware wether it be wife or girlfriend, this sounds like it is worthy of a serious assault charge!
